Details

The scupltural Urchin Planter (2021) is inspired by the shape of its aquatic namesake. This innovative planter with an oval body rests on three tubular legs that act as a kind of plant saucer to keep greenery lush. The hollow legs hold overflow water and allow the plant to breathe, while a small hole in the pot ensures air flow and drainage. The planter was designed by Danish-born, Japanese-trained Kristian Sofus Hansen with Tommy Hyldahl, founder of seminal Scandinavian design brand 101 Copenhagen. Urchin comes in two separate waterproof pieces, pot and saucer, so the pot can be tilted or rotated as desired. Both pieces are constructed from durable and lightweight fiber concrete. Made in China.
